happy christmas

Christmas to me is all about the family. Unfortunately this year everyone, besides my husband, is far away. We always associate this time of the year with cold weather, snow if you are lucky, however if you live in Oz you get the opposite. Everyone is out BBQing by the beach, wearing bikinis and board shorts with Santa’s hats. This year I also saw a bunch of people who brought a 1 m fully decorated Christmas to the beach! Most certainly interesting experience.
Enjoy the festive time wherever you are!

shorts ON!

While shopping around today for the outstanding Xmas presents I popped into Frat House. I don’t normally shop here but I do love Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch checked shirts and jeans.

I’ve been recently desperate to get some shorts I can play beach volleyball in so when I saw they have a pair of them for $12 and 2nd one for only $3.60 I started digging through the pile. It wasn’t easy to find the right size but managed to get a few to try on. I picked a blue one and a pair of grey so they go with most of my bikinis.. They are so comfy and they will look great in action.

Xmas sparkle

I absolutely love Christmas. This year somehow I can’t get my head round it since it’s summer time in Sydney. Xmas + hot = impossible. Choosing a summer dress for my Christmas dinner outfit seemed funny to my sister when we talked on Skype but you don’t really want to be covered in layers. Nude is in big time this season and this white and nude compo looks good with tanned skin. I found a cute shop in World Square called Passion then saw this gorgeous white and beige dress and fell in love at first sight. Top white half is embroidered with flower motifs and the beige bottom is made of light tulle. If you don’t have a smart going out scarf, black suit jacket is just fine. Another place that I’ve recently discovered is Wittner, a shoe shop that sells good quality leather shoes for less than $300 a pair! The only thing I need before going out now is a sparkly clutch bag, just to get into the Xmas spirit.

it’s never too cold for byron bay

I absolutely loved Byron Bay. So chilled out and hippie. It has a completely different feel than any of the nearby Sydney beaches. If you have a free weekend you know where to go and it you are lucky you may spot a whale! It was quite windy yet sunny when I went so needed a few layers. Simple graphic print white top with a cropped knit jumper in this gorgeous cream marl colour with a military green skirt worked really well and more importantly kept me worm. I did brave and sat in my bikini for a bit but got covered in sand straight away so got dressed.

jumper: jorge – $49.99 on sale from rogues

skirt: aeropostale – $29.99 bought in US

happy (rainy) sunday

Sydney’s weather is great, however summertime has normally more rainfall than other seasons. It’s not too cold but a jacket may come in handy. On a rainy day like this there’s nothing better than using vivid colours to brighten up your outfit. I picked this great, almost fluorescent pink jacket. It’s made from this comfy material that stretches so it feels more like a snugly hoody.

When wearing bold shades make sure you only use one bright colour so you don’t look like a techno fan on a secret mission ;-). Simple whites, nudes, blacks and also navy garments will go well with pink.

the million dollar view

Sydney at night is absolutely stunning. My absolute favourite is a view from my friend apartment’s window. She’s just moved in opposite the Opera House, next to the Harbour Bridge so I’m not jealous at all… Lucky me, I’ve got the most spectacular venue for the New Years Eve fireworks with no need of being squashed by the crowd and hours of waiting. That view can never wear off. Thanks Daria!

beach smart

Walking around the beach is always fun as long as you are not wearing high hills of course! Comfort is my priority when out in the sun so wearing a thin nautical cotton top and comfy flats is the way to go. I went for a bold green mini skirt with handy pockets to give it a bit of an interesting twist. Bright colours are in this season but you need to be careful not to go too crazy with accessorizing. Simple, over-sized hand bag and a delicate long necklace both did the trick.
